Inspiring a Global Conscience

Country: ETHIOPIA

Description: During the catastrophic 1984-85 Ethiopian famine, Mohammed Amin, world-renowned frontline cameraman captured raw human suffering; skeletal beings, fatigued faces, mothers with dried breasts and hungry children painfully wasting away; but he also captured the dignity, resilience and hope of these extraordinary people. His selfless act inspired a global conscience and brought about the greatest-ever human-human act of giving which saw a population of millions, being saved from dying of hunger.
