Country:SOUTH AFRICA

Description:
Ramata SORE, a muti-award winning journalist from Burkina Faso, decrypts how western media and mainly the New York Times in the USA has been negatively depicting the African Continent and its peoples for so long. Reporters descried it as a drift from civilization, indifferent to culture and savage. To business conditioned by tis view, Africa was to be exploited for its resources that fueled industrialization in the west.

That view persisted into the twenty first century as Africa prepared to host the world cup of soccer, the premier sporting event on the globe. The west, long conditioned to seeing danger lurking everywhere in Africa, saw the country, South Africa that was far from the mythology they promoted.
The documentary is a product of her postgraduate study in the USA.
