Salim and Sulaiman Merchant

Indian music composers Salim and Sulaiman Merchant hope to leave a legacy of their own this World Cup after being asked by FIFA to compose and record a song for the football extravaganza. The song, which Salim says, "highlights Africa more than it does football", was first sung by Mumbai-based Siddharth Coutto, however FIFA were keen on an African voice. The duo has therefore roped in legendary Senegalese singer Youssou N'dour for an international version layered with African percussion and backing vocals. Both Salim and Sulaiman met with 1GOAL in Delhi to reminisce about their fondest school memories and also look ahead to their performance of the song, Africa, at the World Cup closing ceremony.
