After watching his Nigeria side steamroll past DR Congo 5-2 in Wednesday's international friendly, newly appointed Super Eagles coach Lars Lagerback is confident that his men have the skill and the potential of reaching the semi-finals of the 2010 World Cup.
Nigeria recorded a comfortable 5-2 victory against DR Congo on Wednesday and recently appointed head coach Lars Lagerback is confident the Super Eagles have the potential to make it to the semi-finals at the World Cup after their impressive performance in Abuja.
"I think it is quite possible for Nigeria to reach the semi-finals in South Africa. I think every coach, every country going into a competition always have their aim on winning it," said Lagerback to BBC Sports.
"You have good individual skills in Nigeria, so if we can get that together with the players, I think we have a fairly good chance to go far in the World Cup.
"I'm trying to plan everything in as much detail as possible to get really ready when we get the team really together for the training camps."
Nigeria lock horns with Greece, Argentina and South Korea in the group phase of the World Cup.
