There are more than 80 million disabled people in China, but limited provision for services for them. Partly because of this, and partly because of the state’s one-child policy, thousands of children born with disabilities are abandoned. But now, the payments from the local government have stopped and Chen is worried that officials will use his age as an excuse to take his adoptees into care.
